Location
Nevis Range, Fort William, Scottish Highlands
Category
10hr MTB — solo / pairs
Ten hours of racing on the rooty, rocky singletrack of Leanachan Forest, under Ben Nevis at the Nevis Range. Here your bike handling matters as much as your fitness.
Every lap stacks around 400m of punchy climbing on natural trail, with drainage channels and wet roots that never let you switch off. A solo rider doing eight laps absorbs over 3,000m.
It runs entirely in April daylight, so no lights and no night riding. But smooth riders save energy while clumsy ones burn matches on every root. Ten hours punishes fighting the terrain.
The race
A 10-hour lapped race through Leanachan Forest at the Nevis Range, each lap around 400m of climbing on technical natural singletrack. Solo riders must start their final lap by 7:30pm.
Who this suits
- Skilled MTB handlers who flow over roots and rocks. This course rewards smooth technique far more than raw power.
- Riders who can climb over and over. Around 400m per lap means repeatable climbing legs, not one big effort, decide the day.
- Athletes who pace with discipline. Ten hours punishes anyone who goes out at threshold, and the technical terrain makes over-pacing brutal.
- Anyone wanting a big endurance day without the night. It runs entirely in daylight, so no lights and no overnight fuelling to manage.
