Irish Sea to North Sea in one go. 300km across the Border Marches, half of it gravel, ten forests, one very long day.
Location
Border Marches, Scotland to England (Irish Sea to North Sea, point-to-point)
A line drawn all the way across the country, west coast to east, through the old Border Marches that nobody else rides.
Roughly 150km of the 300 is gravel, threading ten forests on a route built to dodge every busy road. Around 4,200m of climbing, or 3,750m if you take the road-only version.
Set off at 04:15 and finish in the dark, or split it over two days with an overnight and turn a survival effort into a proper adventure. Same route either way.
It's supported with feeds en route, but nobody is racing anybody. Focal haven't pinned the 2027 date down yet. It'll be late May, as it always is.
The race
A point-to-point traverse from the Scottish west coast to the English east coast, following the organiser's GPX. Two surface options, all-road at 4,200m of climbing or road-only at 3,750m, and either can be ridden in one day or two.
Who this suits
- Riders who want a genuine coast-to-coast under their own steam. This is a line across a country, not a lap of a forest.
- Anyone comfortable being self-reliant between feeds. The Border Marches are quiet and remote, which is the point of the route.
- Riders choosing their own difficulty. One day is a serious endurance feat; two days is a big weekend with an overnight in the middle.
- Diesel engines who fuel well. 300km with 4,200m of climbing is decided by eating and pacing long before it is decided by watts.
Training plan
A training plan for Scott Frontier 300 isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.
01 · Race demands
A day that does not end
- 300km in a single push, starting around 04:15 and running into darkness at the far end
- About 4,200m of climbing on the all-road route, spread across ten forests rather than any one big col
- Roughly half the distance on gravel, where your power translates slower than it does on tarmac
- Long remote stretches between feeds, so what you carry and how you fuel matters
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
- Long ride progression on gravel building to 8hr, the core adaptation for a day this size
- Back-to-back long weekends if you're riding the two-day option, so day two is trained not hoped for
- Tempo blocks late in a long ride, 2-3 x 20-30min, to hold effort when the day is already long
- A full night-riding rehearsal with your actual lights, and a fuelling plan tested at 70-100g of carbs per hour
03 · Shaped around you
Not a generic schedule
- Built from your current fitness and the time you actually have
- Adapts every week as Beina learns how you respond
- Syncs your sessions straight to Garmin and Wahoo
- One clear next session, never a wall of spreadsheet
