Accessible fully-signed gravel sportive in the Yorkshire Dales from Skipton — 98/70km of lumpy limestone/gritstone bridleway + moor tops, feed stations, no cut-offs. Climbing estimated. Date approximate.
Location
Skipton, North Yorkshire, England
A fully-signed gravel sportive with feed stations, no cut-offs and e-bikes welcome. 98km through the Yorkshire Dales from Skipton, out into limestone-walled valleys and up onto the moor tops.
The gravel is genuinely mixed. Fast farm track one minute, rougher limestone and gritstone bridleway the next, then open moorland where the wind and weather are real.
No cut-offs means no clock chasing you. But the 98km is a proper 5 to 7 hour day, and there's a 70km option if you'd rather a big-but-manageable one.
Who this suits
- First-time gravel-sportive riders. No cut-offs and a fully-signed route let you ride your own pace and just enjoy a proper day in the Dales.
- Endurance-leaning riders who ration effort. The 98km stacks dale-to-moor climbs across 5 to 7 hours, so it rewards steady pacing over early heroics.
- Riders comfortable on mixed ground. Fast farm track gives way to rougher limestone and gritstone bridleway, and the moor tracks get boggy when it is wet.
- Anyone who picks the honest route. The 70km is a solid goal for a fit rider; the 98km is a full endurance day.
