A technical Arizona backcountry MTB marathon (Epic Rides) around Prescott — 50 Proof ~80km (50mi) with ~1,980m of climbing and rocky technical descents at ~1,600-2,000m altitude, plus 30 and 15 Proof options. A mountain-bike race, not gravel. Date approximate (est. late April 2027).
Location
Prescott, Arizona, USA
A proper mountain-bike marathon in the Arizona high country, not a gravel race. The 50 Proof strings 80km and nearly 2,000m of climbing through the rocky backcountry around Prescott, on real singletrack that punishes the wrong bike.
It opens with a long sustained climb out of town, then rolls out to the remote heart near Skull Valley before a big late climb and a technical descent home on tired arms.
This is a handling day as much as a fitness one. Add Prescott's 1,600 to 2,000m altitude and the descents demand real MTB skill, not gravel legs.

Data
slower than the winner was the median finisher, the field spreads out fast

Who this suits
- Riders with genuine MTB handling. The rocky descents reward skill and nerve, so a strong engine alone will not carry you home.
- Durable climbers who pace honestly. The long ascent out of Prescott ends the race for anyone who redlines it early.
- Sea-level riders willing to prep for altitude. Every climb at 1,600 to 2,000m bites harder than the numbers suggest.
- Anyone chasing a competitive Epic Rides marathon with a real pro field, not a fast-gravel cruise.
