Self-guided 3-day MTB crossing of Snowdonia (Eryri), Wales (~180-220km, approximate). Rugged Welsh mountain bridleways, hike-a-bike and wet mountain weather; a self-reliant adventure rather than a mass-start race. Date window and figures approximate.
Location
Snowdonia (Eryri), North Wales
Not a race. A self-guided crossing of Snowdonia, ridden at your own pace over three days. No mass start, no feed stations, no race village. You follow the route, carry what you need, and manage your own crossing.
Rugged Welsh mountain bridleways, rocky technical descents, open moorland and steep hike-a-bike. Snowdonia is one of the wettest corners of the UK, so wet rock and bog are the norm, not the exception.
The wildcard is the weather on the tops, and the safety net is you. Mist can turn route-following into a real skill. Carry proper layers, know your GPX, be ready to fix your own bike in the wet.
Who this suits
- Self-reliant riders who like being out on their own. Navigation, repairs, food and kit are all on you, with no support crew to fall back on.
- Durable all-day riders rather than one-hour racers. Three back-to-back rugged days break single-day fitness, so multi-day endurance is what counts.
- Confident technical descenders comfortable on wet Welsh rock. The rugged, rooty descents reward handling and punish the timid.
- Riders chasing a bucket-list mountain adventure, solo or with friends, not a podium or a GC result.
