Classic 7-stage Alpine MTB stage race crossing the Alps north→south (Germany/Austria → Lake Garda area), ridden in pairs. STATUS UNCERTAIN — riders must confirm the event is running; date (est. early July 2027) and figures are approximate.
Location
Northern Alps (~Füssen) → Lake Garda area, Italy
Category
MTB stage race — pairs
One of the classic Alpine crossings, and you ride it as a two. Seven mountain stages take a pair from the northern Alps down to Lake Garda, and the clock only stops when the second rider finishes.
Around 550km and 18,000m of climbing in a week. Long pass climbs, thin air up high, then long technical descents into the next valley. Then you get up and do it again.
Figures are approximate and, as things stand, the event's return isn't confirmed. Check with the organiser before you build a season around it. Assume it runs, and it's still one of the great stage races.

Who this suits
- Pairs who train together. Your time is set by the slower rider on the day, so a matched, rehearsed team beats two strong strangers every time.
- Durable diesels rather than one-day flyers. Seven back-to-back days reward the rider who can climb for hours and back it up again tomorrow.
- Confident descenders. Long, rocky alpine descents late in a stage decide time and safety just as much as the climbs do.
- Riders who recover well. Eating, sleeping and looking after your body between stages is half the race, not an afterthought.
Training plan
A training plan for BIKE Transalp isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.
01 · Race demands
Seven Alpine days, ridden as two
- Around 550km and 18,000m of climbing over seven back-to-back stages
- Long pass climbs at altitude, where thin air costs the unacclimatised rider power
- Long technical descents into each valley that punish tired arms and weak handling
- You ride and finish as a pair, so the team is only as fast as the rider having the harder day
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
- Big Climbing Days: 4 to 6 hours with 2,000 to 3,000m of ascent
- Weekend doubles building to a Big Weekend (Sat 6 to 7 hrs, Sun 5 hrs) to ride on tired legs
- Fatigued descending: long technical descents at the end of a long ride
- Pairs rides with your partner for matched pacing, drafting, feeding and legal tow practice
03 · Shaped around you
Not a generic schedule
