The name is the warning. This 12-hour MTB race runs noon to midnight at Minley Manor, and the whole second half is in the dark: the final four hours are fully dark, on singletrack.

The lap is a fast, flowing figure-of-8, roughly 13km and mainly flat, linking heathland and beech woods with three punchy climbs. Momentum matters more than muscle here.

12 hours sits between a sprint and an ultra. Ride the afternoon at 6-hour pace and the dark will break you. The riders who dial their lights and hold pace after sunset are the ones who win laps.

Duration

A roughly 13km figure-of-8 lap, mostly flat at around 175m of climbing, blending flowing singletrack and fire road through heathland, beech and pine woods. Three climbs per lap: a short sharp up, a long gravel drag and a grassy pull. The Bridge to Nowhere comes alive with sound and light after dark.

Who this suits

Is TORQ In Your Sleep for you?

  • Disciplined pacers. The 6-hour riders launch at 3pm and will tempt you to over-cook a hot afternoon that you pay for in the dark.
  • Riders willing to train night skills. Confident cornering and descending under lights is exactly what holds pace when everyone else slows after sunset.
  • Efficient XC riders who carry speed. A fast, flowing, mostly-flat course rewards smooth momentum over raw climbing power.
  • Solo riders chasing the night-riding challenge without full 24hr survival. You finish at midnight, no all-night, no sleep management.
