SPAR Swiss Epic

A 5-day fully-supported Alpine MTB stage race ridden in two-rider teams across Graubünden (Davos–Engadin), ~340km / ~11,000m total. Both riders finish each stage together. Date approximate.

Date
19 Aug 2027
Location
Davos–Engadin, Graubünden, Switzerland (multi-stage)
Category
MTB stage race
Difficulty
Hard

Five Alpine mountain-bike stages, five days, ridden as a two-rider team that has to cross every finish line together. The SPAR Swiss Epic is not a race you survive alone.

Around 340km and 11,000m of climbing through Graubünden, linking Davos and the Engadin over high passes above 2,000m. Long gravel climbs up, technical singletrack down, every single day.

The brutal part is not one big day. It is backing up a hard mountain stage on tired legs, then doing it again, and again. Recovery is the race, and whoever recovers best wins the week.

Who this suits

Is SPAR Swiss Epic for you?

  • Riders who have a compatible partner to train and race with. Your result is the team's result, so matched pacing matters as much as raw fitness.
  • Athletes built for repeat efforts, not a single peak. Day-one form counts for nothing if you cannot back it up on days four and five.
  • Confident technical descenders. These are real rocky Alpine singletrack descents, not fire road, and skill saves time on every stage.
  • Riders who can commit to real volume and disciplined recovery. Back-to-back long days in training are the price of admission.
Training plan

Training plan for SPAR Swiss Epic

A training plan for SPAR Swiss Epic isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.

01 · Race demands
Five Alpine days, together
  • Five back-to-back stages of roughly 1,800 to 2,800m climbing each, with cumulative fatigue deciding your week
  • Long sustained gravel climbs at altitude, where passes above 2,000m quietly sap your power
  • Technical high-mountain singletrack descents that punish riders who cannot stay loose on tired legs
  • A partner you must pace with and finish beside on every one of the five stages
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • Back-to-back weekends: a 4 to 5hr Saturday plus a 3 to 4hr Sunday off-road, both with real climbing
  • In the specialise phase, three to four hard MTB days in a row to rehearse the race week
  • Sweet spot off-road: 3 to 4 x 15 to 20min at 88 to 93% FTP on gravel climbs
  • Partner rides and repeat technical descents, so pacing and skills are agreed long before stage one
03 · Shaped around you
Not a generic schedule
  • Built from your current fitness and the time you actually have
  • Adapts every week as Beina learns how you respond
  • Syncs your sessions straight to Garmin and Wahoo
  • One clear next session, never a wall of spreadsheet
