adidas Stockholm Marathon

42.195km rolling road marathon across a capital built on 14 islands, through medieval Gamla Stan, finishing inside the 1912 Olympic Stadium. ~208m rolling elevation over roughly two laps, ~12:00 midday start so afternoon heat is a real factor. Not a flat PB course.

A marathon that finishes on the track inside the 1912 Olympic Stadium. 42.195km of closed city roads threaded across a capital built on 14 islands, through medieval Gamla Stan, run roughly as two laps.

Don't read the 208m as flat. It's spread across the bridges between the islands as short, recurring rises, and you meet every one of them again on the return lap.

The gun goes at noon, so you finish in the afternoon sun. Run the rises by effort, hydrate from the first mile, and it becomes an iconic day rather than a hard-won one.

Who this suits

Is adidas Stockholm Marathon for you?

  • Runners chasing a bucket-list finish. The track inside the 1912 Olympic Stadium is one of the great marathon finishes anywhere.
  • Steady, even-paced runners. The bridge rises recur twice, so it rewards effort-based pacing over chasing a flat split.
  • Anyone who fuels and hydrates to a plan. A midday start means finishing in afternoon sun, where drinking early protects the last 12km.
  • Runners with a solid aerobic base, roughly 50 to 90km a week, who want history and scenery over a dead-flat PB course.

01 · Race demands
What Stockholm throws at you
  • Around 208m of climbing as short, recurring bridge rises that never let you settle into a flat rhythm
  • The loop run roughly twice, so you meet the same rises again on tired legs
  • A midday start near 12:00, finishing in the afternoon sun with warmth often above 18 degrees
  • 42.195km where fuelling and hydration failures around 30km are the top cause of not finishing
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • The marathon-pace long run: up to 28 to 35km with 15 to 20km at goal pace on rolling terrain
  • Threshold intervals progressing 3x3km toward 3x4km, plus a 40 to 60 min tempo at marathon pace
  • Midweek medium-long runs of 14 to 18km easy to bank volume without a full long-run cost
  • A few warm or midday long runs to rehearse the heat and lock in your hydration plan
03 · Shaped around you
Not a generic schedule
  • Built from your current fitness and the time you actually have
  • Adapts every week as Beina learns how you respond
  • Syncs your sessions straight to Garmin and Wahoo
