Date

Location
Feltre, Dolomites, Italy (loop through Trentino)
Category

Difficulty
Tough

Widely billed as Europe's toughest gran fondo, and it earns the title. Around 204km and 4,900m of climbing through the UNESCO Dolomites, starting at 7am from Feltre in late June.

Four passes in sequence: Cima Campo, the 23km grind up Passo Manghen to 2,047m, then Passo Rolle and the Croce d'Aune wall. The gradient is rarely gentle.

For most riders this is a survival day, not a fast one. The Coppi wall hits 16% after nearly 200km, and a mid-course gate at Predazzo diverts anyone off the pace onto a shorter finish.

Who this suits

Is Sportful Dolomiti Race for you?

  • Experienced sportive riders ready for a genuine Alpine epic, not a first big day out. Eight to twelve hours of climbing is the deep end of the catalogue.
  • Strong, patient climbers who ration effort. The trap is burning matches on Cima Campo with Manghen, Rolle and Croce d'Aune still to come.
  • Riders who train real volume. 204km stacked on 4,900m rewards those who build to six and eight hour long rides, not four-hour ones.
  • Anyone comfortable with heat and altitude swings. A hot Feltre valley and near-2,000m passes 10 to 15 degrees colder, sometimes within the same hour.
