Sold-out ~8,500-rider flat-fast German Jedermann, Borken → Münster Schloss on closed roads (~125km long route). A drafting, positioning and wind-management event, not a climbing one.
Location
Borken → Münster Schloss, Münsterland, Germany
One of Germany's biggest one-day road events, and barely a hill on the whole thing. Around 125km of flat, fast, closed roads from Borken to Münster Schloss, run each October with roughly 8,500 riders.
The Münsterland is farmland-flat, so nothing shapes the day but the wind and the bunch. Sit in a fast group and you fly. Get caught behind a crosswind split and it becomes a long, lonely slog.
The last 60km of the long route follow the pro race route into Münster. This is not a climbing day. It is a drafting, positioning and top-end day, closer to a flat road race than a sportive.
Who this suits
- Riders with a strong steady engine who can hold a fast bunch. On flat roads the draft is everything, so sitting in at 38-plus km/h matters more than raw watts.
- Confident group riders. Holding a wheel, riding straight and reading a crosswind is the real skill here, not climbing.
- Anyone who can punch to cover a move. Echelons and accelerations decide who stays in the fast group and who gets isolated in the wind.
- Riders chasing a fast, festival-scale day out. A sold-out field of roughly 8,500 on closed roads means big bunches and high average speeds.
Training plan
A training plan for Sparkassen Münsterland Giro (Jedermann) isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.
01 · Race demands
Speed, draft and wind
- Sustained flat power for hours, with no climbs to hide the effort, just steady watts and turns in the wind.
- Crosswinds that can shatter the bunch into echelons across the open farmland.
- Repeated surges to make and hold splits when the group lifts the pace.
- A fast finale on the pro race route into Münster.
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
- 2x20 sweet spot and 3x12 threshold intervals to build the sustained power that lets you take turns.
- Surge repeats, short 1min efforts at high power, so accelerations and splits do not drop you.
- A weekly chaingang or fast group ride, the single most race-specific session for power and skill together.
- Echelon and crosswind practice, plus a flat race-pace simulation as race day nears.
