Date
4 Jul 2027
Location
La Villa -> Corvara, Alta Badia, Italian Dolomites
Category
Cyclosportive
Difficulty
Tough

The densest climbing day in gran fondo cycling. 138km and 4,230m across seven Dolomite passes, roughly 30 metres of ascent for every kilometre ridden. Higher density than La Marmotte or the Etape.

It opens with the Sella Ronda loop, four passes back to back from La Villa, then piles Campolongo on again before the Giau, Falzarego and Valparola. There is almost no flat: you are always climbing or descending.

That is the trap. The Sella Ronda feels easy in the bunch, so first-timers burn matches early. Then the Giau, ten kilometres at over nine percent, ends their day. Arrive there with legs.

Who this suits

Is Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel for you?

  • Climbers who own their W/kg. At roughly 30m per kilometre, every kilo and every watt shows, and there is no flat to hide on.
  • Riders who can pace their own effort. The Sella Ronda opener feels easy in the bunch, so the day rewards discipline over the early passes, not front-of-group aggression.
  • Athletes who can climb repeatedly, not just once. Seven passes mean the sixth and seventh ascents matter as much as the first.
  • Anyone chasing a bucket-list alpine day. Lottery entry and partly closed roads make this one of the most sought-after gran fondos in the world.
Training plan

Training plan for Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel

A training plan for Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.

01 · Race demands
Seven passes, almost no flat
  • 4,230m of climbing across seven Dolomite passes, roughly 30m per kilometre, with no valley to recover on
  • The Giau, ten kilometres at over nine percent, arrives deep into the day and decides it
  • Falzarego into Valparola is a long grind at altitude on already-tired legs
  • Pass summits near 2,200m can be single digits and windy even when Corvara sits at 30C, so the descents bite
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • Threshold builders like 2x20 sweet spot and 3x20 at FTP to hold sustained pass-climbing power
  • A long steep effort, 40 to 60 minutes on an 8 to 10 percent gradient, to rehearse the Giau
  • Big climbing days: 5 to 6 hours and 3,000m-plus over five to seven climbs, with the hardest one placed late
  • Final weeks add heat work, warm indoor Z2 and post-ride sauna, for the valley heat
03 · Shaped around you
Not a generic schedule
  • Built from your current fitness and the time you actually have
  • Adapts every week as Beina learns how you respond
  • Syncs your sessions straight to Garmin and Wahoo
  • One clear next session, never a wall of spreadsheet
