Voted the UK's number one half marathon, and West London's biggest running event. 21.1km on fully closed roads through the borough of Ealing, out and back from Walpole Park on the last Sunday of September.

Don't be fooled by the city setting. This is a rolling loop, roughly 190m of climbing stitched from short rises and dips, with no flat stretch long enough to fully settle into.

Iconic for a reason: closed streets, huge continuous crowds, a fast profile for its lumpiness. PB-friendly, but only if you respect the undulation and hold something back for the last 5km.

Who this suits

Is Ealing Half Marathon for you?

  • Runners chasing a half marathon PB who can pace by effort. The rolling profile rewards an even effort over locking onto a single number on the watch.
  • Anyone stepping up from 10km to a first half, drawn in by the fully closed roads and a big, supportive field of around 4,400 finishers.
  • Runners who feed off a crowd. The continuous spectator support gives a genuine lift through the tough back half.
  • Club runners with a threshold engine who want a fast time on a course that rolls rather than lies flat.

Training plan for Ealing Half Marathon

A training plan for Ealing Half Marathon isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.

01 · Race demands
What Ealing throws at you
  • Around 190m of climbing spread across short rises, with no flat long enough to lock into goal pace
  • A congested first 1-2km funnelling out of Walpole Park, where you lose 20-40 seconds and shouldn't fight it
  • A sustained threshold effort held anywhere from about 1h05 to 3h00
  • Cumulative undulation that bites hardest in the final 5km if you surged the early rises
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • Long tempo, the key session: 35-50 min continuous at half marathon pace, run on rolling terrain
  • Progressive long run: 18-20km on undulating routes, the last 6-8km lifted to half pace on tired legs
  • Tempo runs of 25-40 min at threshold to build the metabolic engine
  • Hill strength-endurance: 6-8 x 60-90s uphill at hard effort, so the late climbing doesn't shred your legs
03 · Shaped around you
Not a generic schedule
  • Built from your current fitness and the time you actually have
  • Adapts every week as Beina learns how you respond
  • Syncs your sessions straight to Garmin and Wahoo
