A run, then a mountain bike, then another run. Cross Duath'Lyon packs three disciplines into one short off-road blast: 4km run, 11km MTB, 2km run. Format S is done in roughly an hour.

It runs at Parc de Miribel-Jonage, Lyon's big outdoor park on the eastern edge of the city. Forest paths and lakeside tracks for the runs, proper MTB trails for the bike leg. Early October, 09:30 start.

The fastest cyclist rarely wins here. It rewards handling under load, a clean transition and legs that can run hard off the bike. Skill across all three beats raw power in any one.

Who this suits

Is Cross Duath'Lyon for you?

  • Runners who can handle a bike. A strong 5km runner who rides confidently on trails has close to the perfect profile for this.
  • All-rounders who like variety over specialism. Three disciplines in an hour rewards range, not one big engine.
  • Riders comfortable on singletrack under pressure. The MTB leg asks for clean handling while your heart rate is pinned.
  • Athletes wanting a short, sharp local race. Around an hour on Lyon's doorstep, no long-course commitment.

01 · Race demands
Three sports, one hour
  • A 4km opening run, long enough to bury you if you go out too hard
  • 11km of MTB trail at threshold, steering the bike while your heart rate is pinned
  • A 2km closing run on brick legs, the hardest 2km you will run all year
  • Two transitions, where 30 to 60 seconds is real podium time
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • Run intervals like 5x800m at 5km pace and 4x1km at 10km pace for economy
  • MTB threshold work: 3x10min at 95-100% FTP, plus an all-out 11km time trial
  • A weekly brick, building to a full race-pace mock of run, bike, run
  • Dedicated T1 and T2 drills until each transition is under 30 seconds
03 · Shaped around you
