Bohemian Border Bash Race

Long self-supported gravel bikepacking loop around the Czech borderlands, forests and sandstone, ~1,410km. Early-September date and distances/elevation approximate.

Date
4 Sept 2027
Location
Jetřichovice, Czech Republic (loop)
Category
Bikepacking race — solo / pairs
Difficulty
Savage

A self-supported gravel bikepacking race around the whole rim of Bohemia. Roughly 1,410km, self-navigated by GPX, dot-watched, with no support crews and no prizes. It starts and finishes in Jetřichovice.

From the sandstone rock towns of Bohemian Switzerland it climbs through border ranges: the Ore Mountains, Jizera and Krkonoše foothills, stitched together by forest gravel and quiet lanes.

The real test is solitude. Solo riders face multiple full nights in dark forest, long gaps between village shops, and route-finding that never stops. Self-sufficiency, not power, gets you home.

Who this suits

Is Bohemian Border Bash Race for you?

  • Riders who thrive alone. Multiple nights self-navigating dark Bohemian forest reward people who are steady company for themselves, not just fast.
  • Self-sufficient tinkerers. No mechanics, no feed stations, so you fix your own bike and plan resupply around rural Czech shop hours and Sunday closures.
  • Diesel engines over sprinters. A week-plus of consecutive big days rewards durability and restraint far more than a high FTP.
  • Anyone chasing a genuine expedition. Loaded gravel handling, sleeping rough night after night, and the mental grind are the point, not the enemy.

  • Multiple full nights self-navigating deep forest, where errors spike after dark
  • Total self-support: your own resupply, sleep, mechanicals and weather calls
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • Three-day blocks (8h, then 6h, then 5h back to back) to rehearse cumulative fatigue
  • A 3 to 4 day loaded multi-night trip with bivvies: the single most event-specific week
  • Long Z2 gravel rides building from 5 to 10+ hours, plus full-kit loaded shakedowns
  • Night navigation rides on unfamiliar forest gravel, GPS only, into a full overnight ride
