Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet

Andermatt-based Alpine cyclosportif over up to five classic Swiss passes (Susten, Furka, Grimsel, Nufenen, Gotthard). Flagship Gold tour ~212km / ~5,000m; Platin ~267km / ~6,800m. Next date approximate — verify.

Date
4 Sept 2027
Location
Andermatt, Uri, central Swiss Alps
Category
Cyclosportive
Difficulty
Tough

Up to five classic Swiss Alpine passes in a single day: Susten, Furka, Grimsel, Nufenen and the cobbled Gotthard Tremola. Mass start and finish in Andermatt, early September, on open Alpine roads.

Pick your tour. The flagship Gold takes on four passes, the Platin adds a fifth and is capped at 500 riders, and Silver and Bronze scale the day down to something more forgiving.

No single decisive climb. The difficulty is cumulative: four to five long climbs back to back, several above 2,000m, the Nufenen near 2,478m where altitude starts to cost you power.

Who this suits

Is Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet for you?

  • Climbers with a deep aerobic engine, able to hold a steady sub-threshold effort up climb after climb without cracking.
  • Riders who pace honestly. Going too hard on pass one is what ends days here, not the final climb itself.
  • Anyone who can fuel and layer for a long day out, with summits near freezing and valleys sitting warm below.
  • Riders who pick the right tour. Silver at 108km is a genuine first big Alpine day, while Gold and Platin need months of real volume.
Training plan

Training plan for Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet

A training plan for Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet isn't a generic base build. Beina reads the event's exact demands, looks at your specific profile and the time you actually have, and maps a highly adapted plan to the start line.

01 · Race demands
Climb after climb, all day
  • Four to five sustained passes stacked into one 9 to 12 hour day, with difficulty that builds rather than peaks.
  • Long climbs of 45 to 90 minutes at 78 to 85% FTP, held again and again as fatigue mounts.
  • High cols near freezing at the summit while valleys stay warm, with real snow and storm risk.
  • Thinning air on the passes above 2,000m, quietly costing you power late in the day.
02 · Key sessions
What your weeks look like
  • Long tempo climbs: 3 to 4 x 30 to 45min at 80 to 88% FTP, the core Alpenbrevet demand.
  • Multi-climb rides stacking 5 to 6 climbs of 20 to 40min at tempo to rehearse the pile-up.
  • Specialise-block simulation days of 6 to 7hr and around 4,000m, building to an 8hr Gold rehearsal.
  • Back-to-back big weekends and long fuel-practice rides at 80 to 100g of carbs per hour.
03 · Shaped around you
